Legal Resources

Since there are legal and contractual issues regarding same sex parenting, HRC Fertility offers legal resources for its patients.

Third Party Parenting

Since 1988, HRC Fertility has been in the forefront of developing and expanding egg donation and gestational surrogacy. HRC presently has one of the largest and most successful Third Party Reproductive Programs in the world.

Over the past several years, HRC’s Third Party Reproductive Program has continued to expand at a rapid pace. These services are currently being used by patients from across the U.S. and internationally. Out-of-town patients are monitored where they live utilizing HRC’s protocols and their cycle is synchronized with either their egg donor or gestational carrier, reducing costs and increasing efficiency. This also reduces travel expenses and minimizes the emotional toll on patients because they spend less time away from home.

Why Choose HRC for Third Party Parenting Services

HRC is extremely focused on comprehensive medical and psychological preconception assessment and evaluation of all patients participating in our Third Party Program. This includes the screening of all egg donors and gestational surrogates along with their sexual partners, as well as the genetic parents and/or recipient couples.

Egg Donation vs. Gestational Surrogacy

The introduction of third party conception has undeniably expanded parenthood capabilities to infertile couples. Egg Donation is useful for patients who have ovarian failure, surgical castration or prior chemotherapy. With Egg Donation, the father contributes genetically and the recipient mother carries the baby.

With Gestational Surrogacy, the resulting offspring is genetically related to the couple and the use of a carrier could spare the genetic mother from lifethreatening medical conditions that may be initiated or exaggerated by a pregnancy. It is also effective for patients who have undergone a hysterectomy, were exposed to DES or have a congenital absence of the uterus, but whose ovaries are preserved. In addition, patients who have had multiple miscarriages may also benefit from working with a gestational surrogate.

Egg Donation Program in Southern California

Donor egg in vitro fertilization (IVF) has allowed thousands of otherwise infertile couples to create families. Donor eggs are usually needed when woman’s eggs will not fertilize and develop properly due to age, genetic abnormalities, damage from treatments such as cancer therapy, premature menopause or unexplained infertility. With egg donation, the father contributes genetically and the recipient mother carries the baby, experiencing the joys of pregnancy and of giving birth.

Donor egg IVF is often required by women in their mid to late 30s and those in their 40s. Unfortunately, there is a direct correlation between increasing female age and declining fertility. Donor eggs taken from a woman in her 20s are much more likely to result in pregnancy than a cycle without donor eggs in a 42-year-old woman.

Egg Donation success rate :

Fortunately, IVF success rates for a donor egg cycle are equivalent to the egg donor’s age group.  For example, if the eggs of a 22-year old are used in a cycle with a 45-year-old recipient, the success rates will equal the donor’s early 20s age group and are high. This means that the typical IVF success rate for a women aged 45 could increase from less than 5 percent to 50 percent.
